With the Tetra Pond Test 7-in-1, you can quickly and reliably test the seven most important water values in garden ponds: dip a test strip into the water, move it back and forth for about two seconds and then tap off the excess water. Read the most important information about the water values just one minute later. Using the colour chart on the can of the test strips, you can assess whether the water parameters are within the safe range to maintain a biological balance for fish, plants and micro-organisms in your garden pond. More about exact limits and possible countermeasures can be found in the enclosed instructions. To ensure the function of the test strips, do not touch the test fields or keep them under running water. Tetra Pond Test 7in1 now also determines the content of carbon dioxide (CO2) in pond water. CO2 is especially needed for your pond plants to thrive. In addition, the pH value, total and carbonate hardness (GH + KH) as well as the content of nitrite (NO2-), nitrate (NO3-) and chlorine (Cl2) in the garden pond water are measured. Pond inhabitants are very sensitive to excessive changes in pH, which affects their well-being. The total hardness affects the vital functions of the fish, while the carbonate hardness has a direct influence on the stability of the pH value (pH buffer). To stabilise the pH and KH values, Tetra recommends the Tetra Pond Water Stabiliser. Tetra Pond Test 7-in-1 also measures the nitrite and nitrate values of pond water. Even in very low concentrations, nitrite is extremely harmful to the biological balance in your pond and should not be detectable in water. Nitrate is a nutrient that promotes plant growth. However, too high concentrations of NO3 can be harmful to fish and promote excessive algae growth. Chlorine can also be present in the water as it is often contained in tap water. Just like nitrite, chlorine should not be detectable in pond water and should always be treated with Tetra Pond AquaSafe.
